Complete control system overhaul on a ride limited by outdated Siemens PLC technology and a problematic air brake system. The original air system was a maze of manual valves and stainless steel tubing requiring operators to physically jump down and adjust brakes during problems. New compact logic PLC, new electrical cabinets, and modern operator stand with HMI. The air brake system was redesigned using Ethernet-controlled air valves in a compact block configuration. Built-in safety interlocks prevent brake release if a car is in the zone. Result: fault recovery is dramatically faster, and throughput increased from one launch every 90 seconds to over 70 launches per hour.

Modernization of an older ride with reliability and safety issues. When faults occurred during operation, the operator had to manually climb onto the deck and position everything by hand to avoid jamming the arm or passengers. New operating system and operator stand with a 12-inch HMI screen. In fault recovery mode, operators can now manually position the arm and lock each gondola at home through the screen with built-in safeties, then bring the ride down automatically. Upgraded to 95% wireless communication between operator stand and main cabinet, reducing the original 48-pin umbilical down to a 10-pin plug. Added 24V UPS battery backup so the PLC and HMI stay operational if power fails.
